Bensley Collection – Shinta Mani Wild named in TIME Magazine’s World’s Greatest Places 2019

Cambodia’s pioneering Bensley Collection – Shinta Mani Wild has been named one of the World’s Greatest Places by the internationally renowned TIME magazine. Championing the groundbreaking hotels, restaurants and attractions that have wowed industry peers and offer visitors an experience unlike any other, the prestigious annual list is chosen by a pool of over 1,200 editors and experts from around the world, based on key factors such as quality, originality, innovation, sustainability and influence.

Visionary hotel design disruptor and co-owner of Shinta Mani Wild, Bill Bensley, commented “I travel four months a year on business and three months a year for pleasure and inspiration, and I love so many places – but I also love the anticipation phase of a vacation, and wallowing in the joy of being an armchair traveller. I like to know where I am going, what to see, where to stay, so for a curious traveller and avid researcher like me, TIME’s terrific list of the World’s Greatest Places is manna from heaven. I’m beyond thrilled to find one of my own projects included in this year’s list.”

Nestled deep within the wilderness of the South Cardamom National Park, in a pristine wildlife corridor three hours’ drive south of Phnom Penh, Bensley Collection – Shinta Mani Wild opened in December 2018, offering a radical new concept for a luxury tented camp experience. From the exhilarating moment of arrival – criss-crossing the cascading rapids via a 400m zipline, straight into the Landing Zone Bar – there is no such thing as a typical day at Shinta Mani Wild.

Perched over 1.5km of river and waterfalls, the 14 one-bedroom tents (100sqm) and one two-bedroom tent (140sqm) have been meticulously designed to evoke Bensley’s vision of what it might have been like to be on luxury safari in the jungles of Cambodia with Jacky O’, who travelled throughout the Kingdom with King Sihanouk in 1967. Stunningly realised, this extraordinary product of Bensley’s imagination provides an experience unlike any other in Asia. Creative luxury adventures include exploring the untrammelled waterways of South East Asia’s last wild estuarine ecosystem aboard a custom-designed expedition boat; or joining Wildlife Alliance rangers on anti-poaching patrols. Ever changing menus are inspired by sustainably foraged wild edible plants, as the camp’s naturalists guide guests through the forest to discover – and taste – Cambodia’s natural larder. The all-natural Khmer Tonics spa provides chemical-free treatments including a river-stone foot massage while soaking in a waterfall pool.

Rates at Bensley Collection – Shinta Mani Wild start from USD1900++ per night, inclusive of all food and beverage; all private guided activities and excursions; spa treatments; personal Bensley Butler; and land transfers from Phnom Penh or Sihanoukville airports. Helicopter transfers are additional. A minimum 3 night stay is required and a minimum age of 10 years.
